AAA East Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders MOOSIC, PA - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders pitcher Luis Gil has bee tabbed as Triple-A East's Pitcher-of-the-Week for July 19-25. On July 21, Gil combined with Reggie McClain and Stephen Ridings to throw a no-hitter against the Rochester Red Wings; the franchise's first no-hitter since September 2006. Gil, 23, pitched six no-hit frames in his lone start of the week, walking two and striking out nine. Birmingham Squadron selected as the team name for New Orleans Pelicans NBA G-League affiliate

G League Birmingham Squadron BIRMINGHAM, AL - The New Orleans Pelicans and the NBA G League announced today "Birmingham Squadron" as the official name of the club's new G League affiliate. The Squadron is set to begin play of their inaugural 2021-22 season in November and will play home games in the newly renovated Legacy Arena in downtown Birmingham.
